1 & 2 - Dad's old and NEW Enchanted Royals shoes : )
3 - Greenhouse Dad designed for local High School. Just making the world a better place, ya know?
4 & 5 - Mom's poppies/irises in full bloom.
6 & 7 - Dad's beer brewing tub and one of many delicious products, the champagne cider.
8 - view of Rockies on trip back to LA

Over Father's Day weekend I went back to the hometown for my H.S. reunion and to spend some QT with my Dad. He is one of our biggest fans, as you can see by the wear and tear of his old 'Apple Tree' shoes. Being that it was Father's Day, it was the perfect opportunity to give him a shiny new pair of Enchanted Royals 'Aspen Tree' shoes. He still insists on wearing the old ones in the garden though, much to my Mom's dismay. It's always a good time being home, especially with MT's special home-brew on hand at all times : )

Tilted World

Sunset over Hollywood Blvd.
Thanks to the adorable blog that is Old Sweet Song, I am now incredibly addicted to the iphone app, Tilt Shift Generator. You can affect any photo by shifting levels of saturation, brightness, etc. and point of focus. Above photo taken on iPhone from my office window. LOVE it.

Jewelry Crush: Lora Mallory

If you're searching for the perfect holiday gift for that keeps on giving back, look no further! My dearest friend from home, Lora Mallory, is the talented designer behind my current jewelry obsession, beng her fantastic line by the same name. I own two of her pieces thus far (the Yellow Gold Plated Spiral Ring and the Deer Tooth Necklace) and am obsessed with so many more! With pieces in many prices ranges and styles, Lora's work is truly something special. You can see some of my favorites below, and check out her online store HERE. You can also find more images of Lora's work HERE!

Magic Pumpkins!

With only four days until Thanksgiving (FOUR DAYS!) our friends are all joining forces to make fun contributions to the big day. Carol, our beloved director, photographer, domestic goddess of a friend was oh-so-wise to stock up on crafting essentials, thank you Martha Stewart, that made the perfect Saturday afternoon craft session. As if I weren't excited enough for Thursday's festivities, we now have the perfect magic pumpkin centerpieces to light up the night even more! For tips on making your own magic pumpkins, go HERE.

Kareena Zerefos

I couldn't even begin to tell you how I first came across Kareena Zerefos. I first posted about her back in January (our little blog is over a year old and we TOTALLY let it pass us by! Hooray for us). She's an Australian-based illustrator, and I'm just in love with her style.

I so wish that t-shirt were in my po' student price range, but this great poster is just as lovely:

Supermarket sweep

I can see already that discovering Supermarket (thanks to Uniform Studio) is going to be a dangerous thing for me. Here's another awesome vendor; Cicada Studio (based in Dirty Jerz! hearts) sells beautiful printed fabrics and tea towel wall calendars.

It's a shame the calendar's a little above the price limit (slash out of my budget) for the Design Crush calendar swap...I'm sure it would make my swap partner's day.

Geometrically Minded

I guess I have polygons on the brain....these Dorit candle holders by Jean Pelle are looking pretty sweet to me right about now.

Molly M Designs

About a month ago (back when I still had dollars to spend and I was giddy with new-apartmentness), I placed an order for 4 of Molly M designs' lasercut prints. I waited and waited....until I discovered they had been sent to my old address in LA. Way to not change your address on paypal, D-Town. So I FINALLY brought them back with me after my visit this weekend and hung them up yesterday afternoon. I love how they look all in a row!
Finally, art above the bed

Kate at For Me, For You did a post today about them as well....definitely have a look, because there's more geometric awesomeness where that came from, AND they're available in smaller and larger sizes. Which is to say nothing of her lasercut jewelry.

Missing Seasons

With only two weeks until the ski lifts usually open back home, I'm feeling awfully homesick, or rather just sick of missing the seasons. Thanks to the Aspen/Snowmass site, I can at least live vicariously through the gorgeous pictures they have captured of the seasons I'm longing for (and hopefully plan a trip to the slopes sometime in the new year).

Mulberry for Apple

As long as we're on the subject of beautiful things we in all likelihood can't afford (see below previous post), have a look-see at Mulberry's new collaboration with Apple.

sigh.

Newbark

I'm actually sort of shocked these haven't really hit the blogging world yet. My former (as of my September SF/grad school move) boss, stylist Marjan Malakpour, and her sister, stylist Maryam, have launched the new uuber flat; Newbark- on sale exclusively at Net-a-Porter. Maryam described them to Vogue as “an English men’s slipper meets a Moroccan babouche meets something you might find at a Japanese spa. Except these are all-terrain—indoor, outdoor, in rain, on sand, and on city sidewalks; I tested them everywhere.” And having witnessed a good deal of Newbark's inception, I can attest to their amazing craftsmanship (handmade in California with no detail left unattended).
I myself have the two-tone gunmetal and black patent pair (a MAJOR job perk), and they're basically the best thing ever. They're perfect as slippers but they work outside just as nicely. I wouldn't walk around a city for a whole day in them, but definitely as a regular weekend shoe they can't be beat- not to mention the fact that they're compact enough to stuff in your purse and switch out with your heels at the end of a long night. Compliments galore, too.
Have a look.

Blogging from the Airport/Scarf <3

I'm heading back to LA for another reunifying weekend. Can't wait to see the boy and the ladies and put the finishing touches on the Enchanted Royals video!

When I saw these great Need Supply Co. scarves on Camp Comfort, I became overly excited to have finally found the pumpkin-hued scarf I'd been looking for. So I ordered the custard color and eagerly awaited its arrival, which happened today. As I'm sure you can imagine, being far more color-savvy than myself, custard was not referring to my beloved pumpkin, but to the creamy off-white. When I opened it, I was blown away by its softness and how much better it looks in person; and have a look at that color- it's so versatile...so I kept it. And now, being a poor student, I suppose I'll just gaze longingly at my pumpkin from afar and hope it's still around at Christmastime.
