4 & 5 - Mom's poppies/irises in full bloom.
6 & 7 - Dad's beer brewing tub and one of many delicious products, the champagne cider.
8 - view of Rockies on trip back to LA

Over Father's Day weekend I went back to the hometown for my H.S. reunion and to spend some QT with my Dad. He is one of our biggest fans, as you can see by the wear and tear of his old 'Apple Tree' shoes. Being that it was Father's Day, it was the perfect opportunity to give him a shiny new pair of Enchanted Royals 'Aspen Tree' shoes. He still insists on wearing the old ones in the garden though, much to my Mom's dismay. It's always a good time being home, especially with MT's special home-brew on hand at all times : )

My SECOND favorite style of Vans....

I love oxfords greatly, but what I've found on those who, like me, are shorter and have any curvature whatsoever, is that they can have a stumpifying quality. What I love about these and also the black patent F Troupes I recently procured (Oh boy, somebody stop me) is that they sort of combine the best of the oxford and ballet flat worlds. A little bit of lacehole, a little bit of visible foot...everybody wins. And I love this color. Thank you for your time.

Warm Air Telegraph

Chris and I have been talking about recording some new songs and also re-recording some of the old that he wrote for Warm Air Telegraph, his music project that I sing and play the occasional keyboard for. Those discussions coupled with a need to do a completely new design spawned the flying telephone shoes.

When I drew the cover for the album we made a few years back, Chris would send me texts or call me with random images he thought should be incorporated....a bunch of hot air balloons; a giant snail; a flying telephone. The telephone became a sort of logo for the band, showing up enlarged on the inside cover and as a stamp on each of the CDs. We always said that if we ever made a t shirt for the band, it would have the flying telephone.
And so, in honor of the future of Warm Air Telegraph, I bring you...the flying telephone!

Through The Woods

As previously mentioned in our Holiday Adventures post, Dara and I were most inspired by the Colorado landscape during our visit there last January. In a bout of homesickness over the holidays, I found great comfort in recreating a similar scene of looming aspen trees on a pair of slip on sneakers. These "aspen tree" shoes are the latest of our original designs and are now available for purchase at The Enchanted Royals store . Organic recycled cotton totes with the aspen tree design coming soon!
